What Is Meralgia Paresthetica

Meralgia paresthetica is a condition caused by compression of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve, a sensory nerve that supplies the skin of the outer thigh. Because this nerve carries only sensory fibers, the condition typically causes burning pain, numbness, tingling, or hypersensitivity of the skin, but it does not cause muscle weakness.
